Simple pleasures : a day in Brussels
How I love a nice, long and lazy afternoon spent with one of my best friends. The day started off pretty painfully with a visit to the dentist. But then the good stuff began. My friend Leila and I went to see Sin City. Awesome movie but don't bring kids along; I mean it. Aesthetically magnificent, great actors (gotta make Clive Owen my boyfriend ! ^_^), inspiring mood and pretty amazing scenario. Don't know if I'd be capable of watching it again but it sure left a lasting memory.
After the movie, we went to a Haagen-Dasz ice-cream salon. If you haven't tried their Mango & Cream flavour yet, do it, it's an order! Freaking fabulous! So we sat there watching the crowd strolling around in the heart of Brussels. Lots of tourists of course and quite a few indigenous people like us, of all ages, from all origins, wearing very diverse clothing, speaking lots of different languages-- I do so love diversity, I do so love Brussels !!
Bright sunshine and almost cloudless sky. We had to pay a visit to the Grand-Place (old great market place), the very centre of the city. The wind swirling around in the middle of the Grand-Place was just perfect. We just stayed there for a while, enjoying everything. Man did it feel goooood!!
Then we moved towards Central Station but had to wait for the train, so we just sat outside and talked, and talked, and talked. At some point, we began to talk about tramps and how to react to them. Just when we finished talking about that, a tramp showed up, looking in the garbage for something to eat or drink. My friend gave him her bottle of Diet Coke, which he took along with a half-eaten ice-cream cone he found in the garbage. What a world we're living in! How is it possible that something like that can still happen in a so-called developed country in the fucking 21st century ?? Un-fucking-believable! The worst thing ? While I did feel pity and sadness, it didn't even ruin my afternoon. Makes me wonder if I haven't actually joined the indifferent and blind crowd. Maybe I have. I must have. Will have to try to change that. Really, I mean it.
BTW, kudos to you, Leila, my friend :-))
Oh and then we saw that hunk on a scooter with killer blue eyes. I'm a sucker for blue eyes. With my usual luck, he's probably gay. Pity.
Had a great day, will have to do that again, Etre Supreme ^_^
